Goodwin's Theory Of Analysis

Alex Goodwin wrote a book on the rise of MTV in 1992, he identifies a number of key features which distinguish nusic video as a form;

1. Music video demonstrate genre characteristics?

2. Is there a relationship between the lyrics and the visuals?

3. Is there a relationship between the music and the visuals?

4. The demands of the record label - including the need of close-ups of the artist, and the artist may develop motifs which recur across their work?

5. There is frequently reference to the notion of looking?

6. The use of inter-textual references?

7. Icongraphy developed by the artist might become part of their image?

I believe that in the three videos below that i have analysed, i have looked at all 7 points and have written  and considered about what i belive is there and what is not there.
